This class continues to build the foundational skills of K9 Nose Work® learned in Level 1, focusing more on Exterior and Vehicle searches (weather permitting). K9 Nose Work® is a fast-growing canine sport that is modeled after Detection Dog training. It is a search and scenting activity that taps into your dog's natural hunting instincts, and is fun for all dogs and handlers.
It is a great way to build confidence in shy dogs and gives older dogs something to do that isn't strenuous. K9 Nose Work® starts with getting your dog excited about using his nose to seek out a favorite toy or treat reward hidden in one of several boxes, expanding the game to entire rooms, exterior areas, and vehicles. All ages, sizes, and breeds are welcome. Play for fun, or compete nationally in trials sanctioned by NACSW.
Pre-requisite: Nose Work Intro (Level I). Unsociable or uncontrolled dogs may be asked to pursue private lessons first. Group classes may be appropriate later.
Instructor: Jennifer Ackley
