Therese Dickinson

Therese is a trainer with over thirty years experience working with many species of animals. Attending training classes with her own personal dogs was the beginning. In 1991 she began volunteering and then working at the Florida Audubon Society, Center for Birds of Prey, to rescue, rehabilitate, and release hawks, owls, and eagles. The Center for Birds of Prey is one of nations leading rehabilitation centers for Bald Eagles.
She became a licensed Falconer and worked as an animal actor trainer for Universal Studios. In 2000 as part of the cast and crew of Grinchmas, she trained her rescue dog, Spencer, to perform as the Grinch’s dog, Max. In 2001 she was part of the team training animals for the live stage show Animal Planet Live.
Friends and neighbors were always asking for help training their dogs, so in 2007 Therese opened her own dog training facility. She taught puppy classes, basic obedience, rally, trick classes and therapy dog classes, as well as helping many clients who had dogs with behavioral issues.
As a consultant, she helped the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando start a therapy dog program with her beloved dog, Spencer. The program continues today, helping many patients, nurses, and doctors have a better and brighter day. She continued as a therapy team ... with Spencer, a golden terrier mix, Little Man, a Cairn terrier mix, and Nikita, a Doberman ... volunteering at Serenades, Memory Care Facility. Many of her students have successfully trained therapy dogs and passed therapy dog tests.
After many years vacationing in Tennessee, Therese and her husband, Robb moved to the mountains in 2019. They now have two dogs, Wyatt, a Bluetick Coonhound, and Sawyer, a Rat Terrier, along with Grasshopper, a Senegal Parrot.
Therese is a CGC evaluator.
