Ashley is a Trainer. She teaches group classes in Rally.
Ashley has a Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Tennessee and a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Middle Tennessee State University. Like many dog trainers, she started out in horses. She was a member of the MTSU equestrian team for several years and was the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association point secretary for Region Six. When she wasn’t working for the MTSU farm caring for horses, she worked for local show barns where she taught lessons, managed broodmares, worked with training horses and groomed.
She has been a member of the Oak Ridge Kennel Club off and on since the late 70s (back then with a Keeshond and a Collie mix), has served as the Secretary and President and is the current Training Director. She has taught classes at ORKC for several years in addition to teaching classes for other training facilities, presenting workshops and teaching private lessons. She is an AKC approved Canine Good Citizen evaluator and also an approved judge for the AKC Farm Dog Certified test.
Ashley trains and/or competes in Obedience, Rally, Conformation, Barn-Hunt, Nose Work and Agility with her five dogs including a Flat Coated Retriever, an Irish Water Spaniel, an Irish Setter, a Russell Terrier, and an All American Dog. All her dogs currently compete in one or more dog sports. She lives with her husband Matt and three teenagers.
