Selected Saturday afternoons

The AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program helps develop your relationship with your dog. A natural next step after completing our S.T.A.R. Puppy class, our CGC evaluation sessions help train and test several skills that are useful in everyday life. These skills focus on improving your dogs' good manners and building their confidence as your partners.

Each hour-long session is limited to 6 dogs, so there is time for testing each individual human/dog team. Please be sure to sign up and pay online to reserve your spot. Even if you don't know whether your dog can pass or not, we encourage you to try the test. The 10-part test elements can be found here.

When you pass, you'll be eligible to receive a title from AKC. Your dog will have been shown to have a firm foundation in basic obedience and social skills. Many people use the CGC as an important step toward other dog sports and activities, including competition in obedience, rally, agility, tracking, scent work, barn hunt, etc.

If you don't want to start by taking the test, or if you take it and don't pass it the first time, we use the rest of the hour to help train your dog in the aspects that need more work. Don't be discouraged if you don't pass the test at first. It simply means that you should spend more time practicing and playing with your dog!

Includes (1) 60-minute group session with individual testing.

You must pre-register for this class and prepay (add to cart). We require a minimum of 2 dogs registered for this class to be held on the scheduled date. Otherwise, it may be pushed back.
